Tigers Wrap Up Weekend in Oxford at Joe Walker Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers track & field teams wrapped up competition at the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss., on Friday and Saturday.
"Madison [Fleming] was a definite highlight," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "This was a tough, tough meet. Lots of rain, wind and cool temps. We had some solid performances, but that was definitely great to see."
NOTABLES
• Madison Fleming ran 13.59 and finished third in the 100-meter hurdles – one-hundredth of a second faster than Tayanna Simpson's 14-year-old school record
• The Tigers took three of the top-eight spots in the men's discus, led by Will Dibo's fourth-place finish (52.46m / 172'01"). Sascha Salesius Schmidt finished seventh and Ryan Amador finished eighth.
• Salesius Schmidt also took fourth place in the men's shot put (17.61m / 57'9.5").
• Jada Shanklin won the women's high jump (1.67m / 5'5.75")
• In the women's discus, Samantha Lenton finished third (52.34m /171'8"). In addition, Lenton finished runner up in the open hammer throw (60.28m / 197'9").
• Amber Simpson competed in the invite section of the women's hammer and finished fifth (65.16m / 213'9").
• Vitaliy Favorov finished runner up in the men's javelin competition with a season-best throw of 67.57m / 221'8").
• Chloe Figgins ran a personal-best time of 16:43.26 in the women's 5,000 meters, finishing fifth.
• In the men's pole vault, Evan Puckett took fourth with a 5.08-meter clearance (16'8"). Alyssa Morello finished third on the women's side (4.02m / 13'2.25").
• Liam Walsh finished runner up (9:02.85) in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
