Simpson Named AAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Track & Field athlete Amber Simspon was named American Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Simpson threw a lifetime-best mark of 67.11 meters (220'2") in the hammer throw at the Crimson Tide Invitational on April 22 in a stacked invite section, improving her already No. 8 mark in the NCAA this season.

The native of Wales ranks second all-time at Memphis in the women's hammer and will aim to finish her season as an All American for the first time. Simpson finished 31^st in the NCAA East Region in 2021 and 18^th in 2019 in the hammer.

The Tigers home to host their annual Memphis Invitational on April 28 and 29.
