Simpson Named AAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Track & Field athlete Amber Simspon was named American Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Simpson threw a lifetime-best mark of 67.11 meters (220'2") in the hammer throw at the Crimson Tide Invitational on April 22 in a stacked invite section, improving her already No. 8 mark in the NCAA this season.
The native of Wales ranks second all-time at Memphis in the women's hammer and will aim to finish her season as an All American for the first time. Simpson finished 31st in the NCAA East Region in 2021 and 18th in 2019 in the hammer.
The Tigers home to host their annual Memphis Invitational on April 28 and 29.
