Memphis Takes on UT-Martin for Midweek Neutral Site Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger softball team look to take the season sweep of UT-Martin as they face off for the second time this month. The Tigers (8-35) defeated the Skyhawks 2-1 in their last matchup on April 11 at UT-Martin and are looking for a win as they head back into conference play against South Florida this weekend.

"We are looking forward to the game against UT-Martin after getting the weekend off from conference play." head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro said. "We got a win over them last time we played and I think the girls are well rested and ready to get another one this week."

UT-Martin (20-19) is currently harboring a five-game win streak heading into the matchup Tuesday evening. The Skyhawks are 5-8 when playing in neutral site games and offensively are led by Kaci Fuller (.429 BA, 7 HR, 29 RBI) and Katie Dreiling (.317 BA, 8 HR, 19 RBI). UT-Martin has two wins over mutual opponent SIUE this season and are looking to take back a win against The Tigers.

Two Tigers are currently hitting .300 or higher: Madison Berner and Sam Ibison. Five Tigers have recorded double digit RBIs this season. Aliana Zavala leads with 19 followed Closely by Meagan Chism with 18. Kendall Lee has tallied 13 with Ibison and Berner rounding out with 10 a piece. Zavala leads Memphis in homeruns with four on the season with Berner following closely behind with three. Ibison also leads the Tigers in hits with 33 with Berner right behind recording 31 so far. Pitcher Hallie Siems leads the Tigers with 83 strikeouts so far on the season.
