Tiger Men’s Golf Set for The Johnnie-O at Sea Island

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's golf team will head to St. Simons Island, Ga. to compete in The Johnnie-O at Sea Island. The two-day tournament begins on Monday, March 13 and runs through Tuesday, March 14. Live scoring can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
"I'm very excited to be competing at this inaugural event at Sea Island," head coach Blake Smart said. "It is one of the best venues in the country and a great test of golf. The field is very strong this week and this will be another opportunity to get on the right side of the bubble."
The 54-hole event will be played on the par-70, 7,006-yard Seaside Course at the Sea Island Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday starting with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. The third and final round on Tuesday is set for a shotgun start as well at 7:45 a.m.
The 13-team field includes Memphis, Iowa, Kansas, No. 25-ranked Kansas State, No. 50 Michigan State, Minnesota, No. 42 Notre Dame, No. 37 Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Toledo and No. 43 UNCG.
Last time out, junior Esteban Vazquez continued his great play on the season, tying for 13th place overall with a score of 209 (-7) at the Colleton River Collegiate. Vazquez's top-20 finish was his fourth-straight and his team-leading fifth on the year.
