No. 13 Memphis Takes Down No. 12 NC State, Breaks Three Records

MURRAY, Ky. – The No. 13-ranked University of Memphis rifle team defeated No. 12 NC State on Saturday afternoon, 4714-4674, with the highest aggregate score in program history. The Tigers (3-6, 2-5 Great American Rifle Conference) picked up wins over the Wolfpack in smallbore, 2341-2319, and air rifle, 2373-2355.
"I'm extremely proud of how the team shot today," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "We knew we were capable of shooting a big score like this and it feels great to finally put one together. I think today proved that our program can be competitive on a national level and we're excited to see what we can do with the rest of our season."
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman Sophie Cruz had personal bests in air rifle (580) and smallbore (592).
- Freshmen Gabriela Zych (588) and Sam Sparrow (574) and junior Kaylene Castillo (586) all had personal-bests in smallbore.
-Senior Angeline Henry led Memphis in aggregate score (1184) and shot 597 in air rifle to lead the Tigers.
