Gartman Earns AAC Weekly Honors
May 09, 2022 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After spinning one of the best starts for a Memphis Tigers pitcher in recent memory, RHP Landon Gartman was named to this week's American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Gartman is the second Tigers pitcher to earn these honors twice this season.
In Friday's matchup with East Carolina, Gartman was unhittable. Over eight innings, the right-handed starter didn't allow a hit and struck out 10. His eight-inning performance and 10 strikeouts were both season highs.
On the season, Gartman has been Memphis' top pitcher. The righty is 5-0 with a 3.49 ERA over 12 appearances, 10 of them starts. Gartman has struck out a team-high 71 batters in 67 innings, has held opponents to a .175 batting average, the best on the team, and has a team-high six quality starts.
SS Ben Brooks, RF Blake Daniels, DH Jacob Compton, 3B Logan Kohler, 2B Austin Baskin, RHP Connor Shamblin (twice) and LF Ian Bibiloni have all earned Honor Roll recognition earlier this season.
Memphis returns to action Tuesday with a 6 p.m. first pitch at home vs. Arkansas State. The Tigers then hit the road for the remainder of the season, with conference series at Cincinnati and Tulane before the conference tournament in Clearwater, Fla.
