Tigers Season Comes to End in Opening Round of AAC Championship

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Facing off with the Shockers of Wichita State in the opening round of the AAC Championship, the Tigers looked to take the upset. But, the dominate hitting of WSU would be too much and would ultimately lead to the 22-0 season-ending loss for Memphis.

Following today's game, Memphis finishes the 2022 season 16-38 overall.

MEMPHIS: 0, WICHITA STATE: 22
How it happened:

Gracie Morton kicked things off for the Tigers in the top of the first inning with a single up the middle. After stealing second base, Wichita State's defense would hold strong and strand her there.
The Shockers offense wasted no time today, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first and nine in the bottom of the second to take a 15-0 lead.
The Tigers would pick up another hit in the top of the second inning when Linsey Hargis hit a rocket to the pitcher's circle. A double play from the Shockers in the next at-bat would end the inning.
Camryn Wineinger would get the final hit of the day for Memphis with a standing double to deep center field in the top of the fourth inning.
Wichita State would go on to score a combined seven runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to secure the 22-0 win.

Notables:

Hallie Siems got the start today while Kailey Hilderbrand, Zoey LeCompte and Mikayla Hoschak all made appearances today.
