Track and Field Finishes Crimson Tide Invitational With 25 Top-10 Performances

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Memphis track and field wrapped up the weekend's Crimson Tide Invitational with 25 top-10 finishes between the men's and women's team.
This was the final away meet before the American Athletic Conference Championship in two weeks. The University of Alabama hosted the two-day competition at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium, where events concluded Saturday evening.
Senior Cole Riddle brought home a gold for the second week in a row after his 5.25m top clearance in the men's pole vault Saturday. Evan Puckett and Drew O'Connor also finished in the top 10 for the event (fifth and sixth, respectively) with top clearances of 5.05m. All three athletes rank in the top 10 in the conference for the event.
Vitaliy Favorov was the second Tiger to bring home a gold, his in the men's javelin throw (68.01m). His throw from the War Eagle Invitational last weekend (68.08m) still gives him a second-place conference ranking.
On the women's side, DeeNia McMiller placed second in the women's hammer invitational (66.40m), earning her the top conference spot. Her throw from the weekend smashed the school record for the event. Vigdis Jonsdottir and Mona Jaidi also hold top-five rankings in the conference (third and fourth respectively).
Next up, the Tigers will compete in their last regular-season outdoor meet at home. The Memphis Invitational will begin Friday at 2 p.m. at the Billy J. Murphy Sports Complex.
