Track and Field to Host Memphis Tiger Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the first time since 2018, University of Memphis track and field will host the Memphis Invitational this Friday and Saturday at the Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex.
Events are set to begin Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with triple jump and pole vault, while the majority of events will take place Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Also on Saturday, 19 graduating seniors will be recognized for their time with the track and field team. After these student athletes are honored, events will continue on a rolling schedule throughout the afternoon.
The last time out, the team traveled to the Crimson Tide Invitational, where they finished the weekend with 25 top-10 performances across all events. Cole Riddle and Vitaliy Favorov brought home golds for the men's pole vault and javelin throw, respectively.
This is the last meet for the Tigers before the American Athletic Conference Championship in two weeks, and several athletes will go into the home meet with strong conference rankings. Male athletes include Payton Gleason (fourth, 10000m), Adam Yakobi (third, 400m hurdles), Tate Wyatt (fifth, 3000m steeplechase), Riddle (third, pole vault), Iason Machairas (first, shot put), Parker Evans (fourth, shot put), Robby Watson (second, hammer) and Favorov (second, javelin).
Among the women holding top-five conference rankings are Chloe Figgins (fourth, 10000m), Solstice Saliba (fifth, 10000m), Alyssa Morello (fourth, pole vault), DeeNia McMiller (second, shot put; first, hammer) Mona Jaidi (fifth, shot put; fourth, discus; fourth, hammer; first, javelin), Vigdis Jonsdottir (third, hammer) and Elina Nebl (third, javelin).
