Tigers Fall to Shockers in Second Game of Series

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State offense continued their hot-hitting today that led to Memphis facing the 14-3 loss in the second game of the series.
Following today's games, Memphis moves to 16-31 overall and 2-12 in AAC play.

Following today's games, Memphis moves to 16-31 overall and 2-12 in AAC play.
Game One: MEMPHIS: 3, WICHTIA STATE: 14 (5 INNINGS)
How it happened:
- The Tigers took an early lead for the second day in a row when Taylor Smrt singled up the middle and sent Kendall Lee home for the 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- Wichita State would go on to score a combined 11 runs through the first three innings to take the 11-1 lead.
- Memphis would cut into their deficit in the top of the fourth inning after Alyssa Dean reached off a fielding error by WSU and allowed Meagan Chism to cross home plate.
- Kendall Lee would follow that up with a double down the right field line that moved everyone on the bases up and sent Gracie Morton home to make it an 11-3 game.
- The Shockers would cap off scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning with two homeruns and handed the Tigers the 14-3 loss.
- Kendall Lee led the team with two hits today while Morton, Dean, Smrt, Chism and Camryn Wineinger all picked up hits today.
- Hallie Siems got the start today while Jenna Gibson and Zoey LeCompte both made appearances in today's game.

- Memphis and Wichita State will finish the series on tomorrow afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. Coverage of the game can be found on ESPN+.
- The Tigers will return to the Bluff City on Tuesday when they host Ole Miss at the Tiger Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.
