Mar 21, 2022 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For his performance in Memphis' four games last week, DH Jacob Compton was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. It marks the fifth consecutive week that a Memphis player has earned Honor Roll recognition and the fifth different Tigers player to earn the honor.
In Memphis' 3-1 week that included a series win over SIUE, Compton went 6-17 (.353) with three home runs and nine RBIs. Five of his six hits went for extra bases, as Compton added a pair of doubles. The sophomore finished the week with a .421 OBP and 1.000 SLG.
With three multi-hit games last week, Compton now has seven such games on the season. He had multiple RBIs in three of Memphis' four games last week and now has five multi-RBI performances through Memphis' 17 games. Compton leads the team in batting average (.348), is tied for the team lead with seven doubles, is second on the squad with four home runs, and leads the Tigers with 20 RBIs.
Compton joins 3B Logan Kohler, 2B Austin Baskin, RHP Connor Shamblin (twice) and LF Ian Bibiloni who all earned Honor Roll recognition earlier this season.
Memphis will be back in action Tuesday, as #1 Ole Miss will take on the Tigers at 6 p.m. at AutoZone Park. The teams will then meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oxford before Memphis heads for a road series at Indiana State this weekend.
