Tigers Fall to Central Arkansas, 10th Ranked Oklahoma State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger softball team faced a tough opening day of their UofM Tournament, falling 1-0 to Central Arkansas and 10-0 to No. 10 Oklahoma State.
Following today's games, Memphis moves to 8-14 overall.

How it happened:
- It wouldn't be until the bottom of the third when the Tigers got their first hit of the game when Hannah Bassham put down a bunt and out-ran the throw to first base.
- Memphis held Central Arkansas scoreless through four innings before Tylar Vernon scored off a throwing error by Memphis to put the Bears up 1-0 in the top of the 5th inning.
- The Tigers would not be able to get a runner in scoring position for the remainder of the game and suffered the weekend opening loss.
- Along with Bassham, Alyssa Dean also recorded a hit in the Tiger's first game of the day.
- Mikayla Hoschak got the start against UCA, pitching the entire seven innings with six strikeouts recorded.

How it happened:
- The 10th ranked Cowgirls got on the board early, getting one run in the top of the second and another four in the top of the third inning to take the 5-0 lead.
- Gracie Morton picked up a hit in the bottom of the fourth inning when she put down a bunt and beat out the run to first.
- Oklahoma State added another five runs in the top of the fifth and held Memphis in the bottom half of the inning to take the 10-0 final.
- Hallie Siems got the start in game two going 2.2 innings with two strikeouts while Kailey Hilderbrand, Drue Thomas and Zoey LeCompte all made appearances in the team's second game of the day.
UP NEXT
- Memphis will continue play in the UofM Tournament tomorrow when they take on Southeastern Louisiana. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
- The Tigers will wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a doubleheader with South Dakota. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
