Feb 08, 2022 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With four home games remaining on the regular season schedule, the Memphis Tigers host Tulane Wednesday night before embarking on a three-game road trip. Tip-off Wednesday is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The game against the Green Wave is the Military & First Responders Game, as well as the Slive Foundation Game for prostate cancer research.
The Tigers currently sit in fifth place in the American Athletic Conference standings, one win behind fourth-place Tulane and one win ahead of sixth-place Cincinnati. The top five seeds receive a first-round bye in the AAC Tournament. Including Tulane, each of Memphis' next five opponents are either ahead of it in the standings or directly behind.
Tulane is one of the conference's surprises this season, with seven league wins after being picked to finish in a tie for ninth place in the preseason coaches poll. Tulane's seven AAC wins are already its most since joining the conference in 2014-15.
Memphis has won seven-straight games at FedExForum against the Green Wave, since dropping a 74-66 decision on Jan. 3, 2015. The Tigers lead the overall series with Tulane, 59-12, but the Green Wave defeated Memphis earlier this season by one point. Memphis' 71 games against the Green Wave are its fourth-most against an opponent in program history, behind Southern Miss (91), Louisville (90) and Cincinnati (83).
Following Wednesday's game, the Tigers hit the road for an important three-game stretch. Memphis plays at No. 6/7 Houston Saturday, at Cincinnati next Tuesday, Feb. 15 and at SMU next Sunday, Feb. 20. The Tigers then return home to host Temple on Feb. 24 and Wichita State on Feb. 27.
Wednesday's game is presented by Conway Services.
