Softball Heads to Louisiana to Take Part in McNeese State Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn.– The Tiger softball team will pack up once again as they head to Lake Charles, La. to play in The Evangeline Bank and Trust II Invitational hosted by McNeese State. Memphis will play one game on Friday, two on Saturday and one last game on Sunday afternoon.
Memphis (3-7) has started off with hot hitting from their lineup with Camryn Wineinger, who was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll this week, leading the way with a team-high 14 hits on 28 at-bats with eight RBI while Gracie Morton, Taylor Smrt, Alyssa Dean, Kendall Lee and Alexis Dale are all hitting .300 or better through the first 10 games of the season. Wineinger, Morton and Dale all have 10 hits or more while Dale, Dean and LaNya Bates have accounted for 20 of the team's 38 runs.
The Tigers picked up a win over (RV) Austin Peay last weekend and nearly got past the Eagles of FGCU, who picked up four wins over teams in their tournament.
In the pitcher's circle, Mikayla Hoschak and Hallie Siems have been the go-to for the Tigers with eight and six appearances, respectively. Siems currently leads the team with 14 strikeouts.
Memphis will take on UT Arlington (4-6) on Friday morning at 10 a.m., Manhattan College and McNeese State (6-4) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., before wrapping up the weekend against UNLV (7-2) on Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 12:30 p.m. Coverage of all games can be found on McNeeseSports.com/watch ($) while live stats for all games are available on GoTigersGo.com.
