Feb 21, 2022 | Baseball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a series win over Valparaiso to open the 2022 season, the Memphis Tigers picked up their first two American Athletic Conference weekly awards, as both LF Ian Bibiloni and RHP Connor Shamblin were named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
Bibiloni got off to a red-hot start, as the fifth-year outfielder had at least one hit in all three games against Valparaiso, with multiple hits both Friday and Saturday. Bibiloni finished the series 6-12 with a .500 OBP, .917 SLG, and 1.418 OPS. Earning his first weekly award as a member of the Tigers, Bibiloni added two doubles, a home run, and three runs scored.
In Friday's season opener and in his Memphis debut, Shamblin dominated the Beacons over six-shutout innings. The righty picked up the win, as he allowed just one hit, a first inning single, struck out seven, and walked just one.
The Tigers will be back in action at 3 p.m. Wednesday vs. Central Arkansas and follow with a three-game set vs. the Brown Bears Friday through Sunday. All four matchups will be played at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field.
