FORT MEYERS, Fla. – The Memphis Tiger softball team played in their final game of the FGCU Invitational against host school Florida Gulf Coast. While the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, late RBI hits from the Eagles spoiled the Memphis lead and handed them the 3-2 loss.

Following today's games, Memphis moves to 3-7 overall.

How it happened:

Taylor Smrt recorded the team's first RBI of the game in the top of the 1^st inning with a double to center field that brought Gracie Morton across home plate.
Linsey Hargis would extend the Tiger's lead to 2-0 in the top of the 6^th inning when she scored off an RBI single from E'Mya Munford.
FGCU would come storming back in the bottom of the 6^th inning after a two-RBI double to left center field from Cana Davis tied the game up.
The Eagles would get a walk off single from Hope Hernandez in the bottom of the 7^th inning to hand Memphis the 3-2 loss.

Notables:

Five different Tiger players collected hits today with Smrt leading the way with three hits. Morton and Aliana Zavala both recorded two hits while Munford, Sam Ibison and Kendall Lee all reached base with a hit a piece.
Hallie Siems got the start today going 5.1 innings with two strikeouts. Mikayla Hoschak finished the 1.0 inning of work with one strikeout recorded.

UP NEXT

Memphis will play in their final road tournament next weekend when they make their way to Lake Charles, La. to take part in the McNeese State tournament.
The Tigers will face-off against UT Arlington, Manhattan College, McNeese State and UNLV over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
