No. 16 Memphis Takes Down No. 20 UT Martin

MURRAY, Ky. – The No. 16-ranked University of Memphis rifle team defeated No. 20 UT Martin on Saturday, 4667-4631, in a NCAA Qualifier in Murray, Ky. The Tigers won smallbore, 2323-2295, before winning air rifle, 2344-2336.
The victory was the first of the season for Memphis (1-10) after facing one of the most difficult schedules in the country. UT Martin fell to 2-6 with the loss. The Tigers will now wait until Tuesday, Feb. 22 to learn of the team's NCAA Championships fate. The selection show will air at 2:00 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
KEY MOMENTS
• Sophomore Kaylene Castillo finished as the top individual on Saturday, posting season-best scores in both smallbore (585) and aggregate (1175). Her score of 590 in air rifle matched her season high.
• Junior Angeline Henry took second overall, posting an scores of 580 in smallbore, 595 in air rifle and 1175 in aggregate.
• Sophomore Jack Kersey posted a season-best total of 581 in smallbore and matched his season-high in aggregate with a score of 1161 to finish fifth.
• Classmate Taylor Christian finished sixth overall with an aggregate of 1155, while senior David Crenshaw took seventh with a aggregate total of 1155.
• Senior Mark Meyeraan was eighth overall with season-best scores of 578 in smallbore and 1153 in aggregate.
