Castillo Ties for 39th in Smallbore at NCAA Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis sophomore Kaylene Castillo tied for 39^th in the smallbore competition at the NCAA Rifle Championships in USAFA, Colo. on Friday afternoon.

Castillo capped her season on a high note after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in smallbore as an individual. At the match, Castillo shot a 575 to place in a tie for 39^th. On the season, the sophomore finished with season averages of 572.154 in smallbore, 587.25 in air rifle and 1159.404.

"This match was a really great way for Kaylene to wrap up her sophomore year," interim head coach Morgan Phillips remarked. "I'm really proud of the way she shot her match and the grit she showed throughout it. We'll use the experience that she's gained to build on for next year!"

On Saturday, Memphis' Angeline Henry will compete in air rifle at the NCAA Championships. Henry will shoot at 12:15 p.m. CT for the Tigers, with live video and live targets available at GoTigersGo.com.
