MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro has added Ari Cole to her 2023 signing class.
Cole, a 5-6 outfielder from Braselton, Ga., comes to Memphis after a successful prep career at Mill Creek High School where she was the September Area Player of the Month, was a Second Team All-Region Selection with a .409 batting average in 88 at-bats. Cole led the team in stolen bases with a 100% success rate, most putouts by an outfielder and double plays turned. Cole also qualified for the Sub-State Long Jump Region.
"I am so excited about the opportunity to play softball for the University of Memphis and become a Tiger," said Cole. "I am looking forward to taking the field and competing with my new family!"
Cole played club ball with the Atlanta Vipers-Wiggins where she helped the team to a 48-20 record last summer. She made appearances in 70 games where she posted a .392 batting average in 199 at-bats. Cole would add in a .967 on base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage that came from 78 hits, 13 of which came as extra base hits.
"We are excited to add Ari and the Cole Family to Memphis," said VanBrakle Prothro. "Ari brings a lot of athleticism and speed to this class, and we can't wait to see what she does here at Memphis."
Cole would notch three homeruns, drive in 26 runs and steal 35 bases during the 2022 summer season.
