Zych Matches Program Record in Air Rifle Against No. 4 Ole Miss

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 12-ranked University of Memphis rifle team fell to No. 4 Ole Miss, 4743-4670, on Sunday at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range in Memphis, Tenn. The Rebels (4-1, 2-1 Great American Rifle Conference) won smallbore, 2361-2306, and air rifle over the Tigers (2-4, 1-3 GARC), 2382-2364.
"We definitely had some good things come out of our match against Ole Miss today," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "A highlight was Gabriela's 598 in air, which tied our school record. She also had the highest smallbore score on our team today and it's exciting to see things come together for her. We'll enjoy a day off tomorrow and get back at it for our match against Akron on Saturday."
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman Gabriela Zych led Memphis against the Rebels on Sunday, placing fourth individually with an aggregate score of 1179. Zych placed second in air rifle with a school-record tying 598 and took fifth in smallbore with a total of 581.
• Senior Angeline Henry took fifth place for the Tigers with an aggregate of 1172. Henry took fourth in air rifle with a 595 and eighth in smallore with a 577.
• Junior Jack Kersey finished eighth overall with scores of 574 in smallbore, 582 in air rifle and 1163 aggregate.
