Six Tigers Earn All-AAC Honors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Six members of the University of Memphis football team earned All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) honors on Wednesday, the league office announced. Headlining the group were defensive back Quindell Johnson and kicker Chris Howard, who were named to the All-AAC First Team.
Tight end Caden Prieskorn and linebacker Xavier "Zay" Cullens earned second-team All-AAC accolades, while defensive lineman Jaylon Allen and defensive back Davion Ross were named Honorable-Mention All-AAC.
After earning second-team all-conference honors the past two seasons, Johnson was named All-AAC First Team this year after leading the league and ranking 16th in the NCAA with four interceptions. He also had 73 tackles, five tackles for loss, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles for the Tigers. Johnson's four picks are the most for any Tiger since 2017, while his 225 career solo tackles rank sixth all-time in program history.
Howard was terrific for Memphis this season, leading the AAC with 20 made field goals to earn first-team all-conference accolades. On the year, Howard made 20-of-23 field goals and 45-of-47 extra point attempts. He led the AAC in scoring per game (8.8) and total points scored (105). Howard also started the season 14-of-14 on field goals, falling just two short of Stephen Gostkowski's school record of 16-straight.
Prieskorn had a breakout season for Memphis, earning second-team all-conference honors. The redshirt sophomore led all AAC tight ends with 46 receptions, 593 yards and tied for the league lead with six touchdown receptions. Preiskorn is just one touchdown, two receptions and 64 receiving yards behind Sean Dykes' single-season tight end records.
Cullens was remarkable for the Tigers this year, landing on the All-AAC Second Team. He led the conference and ranked second in the NCAA with four fumble recoveries, tied for second with three interceptions and tied for fourth with 104 tackles. Cullens also recorded 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble and two interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Both Allen and Ross earned Honorable-Mention All-AAC for Memphis. Allen had 56 tackles, a team-best nine tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and six quarterback hurries. Ross posted 40 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, five pass breakups, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry.
