MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer team will continue their season in the American Athletic Conference Championship Semi-Final match on Thursday when they take on #1 UCF.
Memphis (8-5-4, 3-2-3 AAC) advanced to their seventh consecutive AAC Championship semi-final after they defeated #5 East Carolina in the opening round. In the 99', Grace Stordy would play a pass into the box to Mya Jones who would connect with the back of the net for the go-ahead goal.
The Tiger defense would hold the Pirates shotless in the final 20 minutes of the match to secure the 1-0 win.
UCF (9-2-4, 7-0-1 AAC), who were named as the Regular Season Champions, earned a first-round bye following their 2-0 win over South Florida last Thursday – which also marked seventh consecutive win.
The Knights would get goals from Dayana Martin and Katie Bradley in the 16' and 66', respectively while UCF goalkeeper, Caroline DeLisle made six saves in her ninth shutout of the season.
Earlier in the season when the Tigers and Knights met, the two teams played to a 0-0 draw after Claire Wyville made three saves, including a game-saving stop in the 88'.
The last time the two teams met in the AAC Championship was back in 2018 during the semi-final match. The Tigers would go on to take the 1-0 win after a Memphis goal in the 81' sent them to the finals.
Thursday's match in Orlando, Fla. Is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kick-off with coverage available on ESPN+.
