Tigers season ends in Tulsa

Tulsa, Okla. – The Tigers season came to an end Thursday as they fell 10-2 in six innings to South Florida in the AAC Tournament. Before the start of the tournament, Junior Alyssa Dean was named to the All-AAC second team. Dean led the Tigers this season in batting average and home runs. She finished the season with a .300 batting average and six home runs.
Senior Mariah Nichols made the final start of the season for the Tigers in the circle. Nichols went four and a third inning, she gave up six runs on seven hits. Nichols had four strikeouts as well. Hallie Siems came in relief in the fifth inning, she threw one inning total. Chyanne Ellett finished the game in the circle for the Tigers.
Georgina Corrick got the start in the circle for the Bulls of South Florida. Coming into the tournament, Corrick led the AAC in ERA, opponents' batting average, innings pitched, strikeouts, strikeouts looking and wins. Corrick threw her 24th complete game of the season and got her 22nd win. She gave up two runs on seven hits. She finished the game with 11 strikeouts.
After three scoreless innings of a pitching battle, the Tigers got on the board. With one out in the top of the fourth, Delaney Smith scored from second on a single to left by Baylee Smith.
In the bottom of the inning, Alanah Rivera hit an RBI groundout, scoring Bailee Leistl from third. USF then took the lead on a single by Brooke Leistl, as they led 2-1.
The Bulls got the bats going in the bottom of the fifth. Josie Forman got things going for USF with an RBI double to left, scoring Ana Marie Bruni. Then Megan Pierro, Brooke Hartman and Alexis Swearingen all hit RBI singles giving South Florida the 7-1 lead.
Memphis was able to get a run back in the top of the sixth inning, with an RBI single to left by Ryleigh Aungst, scoring Camryn Wineinger. The Tigers had the bases loaded with only one out but was unable to get another run across the plate.
South Florida kept the hitting going in the bottom of the sixth. Bethaney Keen hit a two run home run to left. The Bulls would add one more run, as Pierro scored on a wild pitch, ending the game early at 10-2.
The Tigers finish 9-41 and the Bulls improve to 29-16.
