Memphis Softball drops AAC opener at USF

TAMPA, FLA. –Memphis softball drops AAC opener at USF 8-0 in six innings. The Tigers are now 3-4 all time in AAC conference openers and 6-9 all time in conference opening games.
Hallie Siems got her sixth start in the circle for the Tigers. She went three and two thirds innings on 97 pitches. She gave up five runs on four hits, she did have four strikeouts as well. Zoey LeCompte replaced her in the circle and finished out the game for the Tigers. LeCompte threw two innings, giving up two hits and one earned run.
Junior Georgina Corrick got the start for the Bulls. She threw a complete game on 91 total pitches. She finished the game having 11 strikeouts and only giving up one hit.
USF got on the board early with a run in the bottom of the first, as Alexis Jones scored on a sac fly RBI by Brooke Hartman. Then after two scoreless innings for both teams, the Bulls had their biggest inning of the game scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Two of those runs came on a triple to right field by AnaMarie Bruni.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Bulls would put the game away in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three more runs for the final 8-0 score. The Bulls finished the game with six hits, as Bruni led the team at the plate with two hits and two RBIs.
Baylee Smith had the lone hit of the game for the Tigers with a single to left field.

The Tigers will play a doubleheader in Tampa tomorrow against USF. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:00p.m. at USF Softball Stadium.
