CINCINNATI, Ohio – In the second weekend of conference action, the Memphis Tigers (8-7, 1-2) rallied for a first set win before the hometown Cincinnati Bearcats (7-4, 2-1) took the next three sets to pick up the victory. Despite lopsided final scores in the third and fourth sets, each was competitive with at least seven ties and three lead changes.

Set 1

The Bearcats used a 7-1 run to take a 12-7 lead, their largest of the set
Consecutive kills by Tabytha Toelke pulled the Tigers within one 17-16
Toelke's set-high fifth kill at 18-19 sparked Memphis' 7-2 run to close the set

Set 2

The set didn't feature a tie or lead change
Cincinnati started the set on a 5-1 run and led by as many as eight
Trailing big early, the Tigers never got closer than six and Cincinnati closed the set on a 5-0 run

Set 3

The set saw seven ties and three lead changes across the first 16 points (8-8)
A 4-0 Cincinnati run followed and put the Bearcats in front for good, as Memphis never got closer than three

Set 4

Neither side led by more than three across the first half of the set, tied 14-14
Cincinnati rattled off eight straight points to lead 22-14
The Tigers rallied with four straight to trim the deficit to four and fought off two match points, before Cincinnati wrapped up the win on a kill by Sarah Norcom

NOTABLES

With nine blocks, Elizabeth Orf came one block shy of her season-high
Orf (13.0), Tabytha Toelke (11.0), and Miaya Smith (10.0) were the only Tigers to score double-digit points, no Memphis player recorded double-digit kills
