MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's golf team is set for five tournaments plus the AAC Championship this spring. With the cancellation of the final three regular season tournaments last year, the Tigers have not seen tournament action since Mar. 1, 2019.
"We're excited about our upcoming season and the opportunity to compete,' said head coach Beth Harrelson. "The girls are ready to get on the road and do what they love to do, and that's play golf."
Memphis gets the season started with the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas, Feb. 1-2. SMU will host the event at Trinity Forest Country Club. The Tigers finished sixth in the event in 2019.
"This is the earliest tournament that we've ever played, so adjusting to coming back to school and playing right away has been out of the ordinary for the girls," said Harrelson. "Coach Jordan and I are pleased with the team's chemistry and only expect it to get better."
A trip to the Sunshine State follows for Memphis with the Florida State Matchup. Florida State hosts the event Feb. 26-28 in Tallahassee, Fla. The Tigers finished eighth in the same event last season, the final tournament before the cancellation of the remainder of the season.
Memphis' final three tournaments in the regular season are all in the Peach State. Augusta University will host the Tigers as part of the Valspar Augusta Invitational March 13-14. The Memphis follows with the Pinetree Challenge in Kennesaw, Ga., March 22-23, and finishes with the Brickyard Collegiate, hosted by Mercer, April 5-6.
After the five-tournament schedule, the Tigers will look to the American Athletic Conference Championship April 19-21 in Southern Pines, N.C. at Pinehurst #6.
