MEMEPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis softball's Alyssa Dean has been selected as the Fall 2020 Tiger Pride Award recipient. This team award is presented each semester and is selected by the Memphis softball student athletes.
"It was a great team moment to announce Alyssa Dean as the new recipient for this award. She worked extremely hard to earn this honor, said Memphis head coach Natalie Poole. "What is even better about this award is that it is peer voted, which means that her teammates felt it was well-deserved. I am extremely proud of her and look forward to her continuing to represent the Tiger program in such a great way this spring."
As a Tiger, Dean has played in 69 games with 67 starts. She has had 48 hits, 13 doubles and two homeruns. In 2019, she was named to the AAC All-Rookie team.
Not only has she had a stellar career on the field, but in the classroom as well. She has received multiple academic honors including three appearances on the Dean's list and four Tiger 3.0 Club recognitions. She was also recognized as a 2019 NFCA Scholar Athlete and named to the 2019 AAC All-Academic Team.
"The Tiger Pride Award is an honor that is highly revered within our softball program. You have to be committed in all ways to our culture. This person epitomizes what it truly means to be a Tiger," said Poole.
