Ellett, Smith earn AAC Weekly Honor Roll nods

The Tigers finished 3-1 at the UofM Softball Tournament
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following strong performances at the UofM Softball Tournament, freshman Chyanne Ellett and junior Baylee Smith have earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.

Ellett finished the weekend with a 2-0 record and 1.27 ERA to lead the Tigers. She struck out 15 batters this weekend, including a career-high nine in Memphis' 10-2 victory against Butler. In 11.0 innings pitched, Ellett allowed just five hits.

The Brownwood, Texas native improved to 8-2 on the year after picking up the wins this weekend. She leads the Tigers with a 2.73 ERA in 56.1 innings pitched.

Smith led Memphis offensively this weekend with a .833 batting average in three games played. A hit by pitch in game one on Friday forced Smith to miss game two, but she returned to the lineup on Saturday to finish with a 5-for-6 effort for the tournament.

She led Memphis with five RBI and recorded three stolen bases, two doubles, a walk and a sacrifice bunt. Smith also scored two runs for Memphis.
