MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team hits up the Golden State for a pair of matches early in the week, as the Tigers get set to take on Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State.
Memphis will face the Titans on Monday at 3:30 p.m. CT before visiting Long Beach State on Tuesday, starting that match at 4 p.m. CT.
Last time out for the Tigers, the team took both matches in Denton, Texas, claiming wins two and three in a row. Memphis has now won seven of its last nine, dating back to a neutral site win over UT Martin in January.
Starting last weekend opening American Athletic Conference play against USF, the Tigers grabbed a commanding 4-0 win over the Bulls. After snaring the doubles point, followed that up with three straight-set wins by Hannah Davies, Lina Hohnhold and Katherine Cao to clinch the match.
After that, Memphis faced the host team North Texas, and grinded out a 4-3 win over the Mean Green. Hohnhold, in a tiebreak in the third set, gutted out a 7-2 victory to keep the winning streak growing.
Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State faced off against one another on Friday, setting the stage for both programs to battle the Tigers. The Beach picked up a 6-1 win over the Titans, cruising to five singles wins after claiming the doubles point. The win moved LBSU to 7-4 and dropped Cal State Fullerton to a 7-4 record as well.
