Women’s Tennis Completes Opening Weekend at Memphis Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team opened its 2026 fall campaign over the weekend, hosting Murray State, Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee in the Memphis Invitational at Leftwich Tennis Center.
The three-day event was played using the spring team tennis format, with doubles followed by singles competition, though overall team scores were not officially recorded.
Memphis opened the tournament Friday against Murray State, picking up seven victories across singles and doubles play. The Tigers claimed five of six singles matches, with Alicia Mall, Leonie Moeller, Nela Linhartova, Maria Santos and Clemence Thouard each earning victories.
The most notable of those victories was senior Leonie Moeller's win on court three. The match marked her first singles appearance since an injury last September sidelined her for the entire 2025-26 season.
The Tigers also took two of three doubles matches against the Racers. Emma Dvorackova/Nela Linhartova earned a 6-2 victory, while Alicia Mall/Clemence Thouard battled to a 7-6 (3) win.
Memphis returned to action Saturday against Arkansas State. Mall continued her strong start to the weekend with a victory on court one, taking the match 6-3, 3-6, 10-6, after a third-set 10-point tiebreaker. She also teamed with Thouard for a 6-4 doubles victory.
The Tigers closed out the weekend Sunday against Middle Tennessee, winning five matches. Mall completed an unbeaten weekend in singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory, while Moeller rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-0 win after a third-set tiebreak. Linhartova added a straight-set victory, 7-5, 7-5.
In doubles action against MTSU, Mall/Moeller cruised to a 6-1 victory, while Linhartova/Thouard earned a 7-5 win.
Sophomore Alicia Mall highlighted the weekend for Memphis, finishing a perfect 6-0 overall, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles while partnering with Thouard twice and Moeller once.
Across the three days of competition, Memphis collected 14 total victories, including nine in singles and five in doubles.
