Tigers drop 2-1 game at Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A rain-soaked afternoon ended with a Memphis baseball setback, as the Tigers dropped a 2-1 game at Middle Tennessee on Wednesday afternoon.
Scoreless in the third inning, a 55-minute rain delay spoiled a strong start from freshman Dalton Kendrick. Earning his first collegiate start, the rookie threw 2.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Following the delay, the Blue Raiders got on the board after a walk and a double. In the sixth, the home side added to its lead with a solo home run.
Memphis started a rally in the ninth inning when Hunter Goodman sent a solo homer to left field to lead off the frame. Two more reached in the inning, but a strikeout ended the threat of more.
Memphis returns to action on Friday at Indiana for the non-conference series finale. First pitch in the series opener is set for 3:05 p.m. (CT).
