Game Details
Memphis (13-15, 4-11 AAC) at SMU (12-15, 6-9 AAC)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Tipoff: 7 p.m.
Â
Against UCF on Saturday, freshman Madison Griggs continued her record-setting ways in both the Memphis and American Athletic Conference record books with five more three-pointers. Coming into the contest, Griggs was two triples shy of matching the AAC record for most three-pointers made in a single season by a freshman, and she shattered the mark by hitting five against the Knights.
Â
With 81 three-pointers and counting, Griggs has made more three-pointers than any other freshman in the history of Memphis basketball (men's or women's). She leads the league in three-pointers and is first nationally among freshmen. The previous AAC record for freshmen three-pointers in a season was previously held by current WNBA star, Katie Lou Samuelson (UConn).
Â
Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu also had a solid performance against the Knights, pulling in her team-leading 13th double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Eight of those double-doubles have come in conference play, which is the most among members of the AAC.
Â
She currently ranks 12th all-time at Memphis with her 13 double-doubles. She is averaging 11.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season.
Â
Monday marks the 21st all-time meeting with SMU. Memphis looks to take the series against the Mustangs after defeating them at home by a score of 57-52 on Jan. 21. The last road victory against SMU came during the 2012 conference season.
Â
A Look At The Mustangs
SMU enters the final game of the regular season with wins in two of the last three contests.
Â
Prior to an 85-62 setback to USF Saturday, SMU had defeated Houston and Wichita State in back-to-back games. Wichita State is one of two teams (ECU) that SMU defeated twice this season.
Â
Johnasia Cash and Kayla White lead the Mustangs in scoring with 10.7 points per game each. Cash is also the team's leading rebounder at 9.3 boards per game. Reagan Bradley has dished out 123 assists this season and is third in scoring for SMU with 9.3 points per game.
Â
The Mustangs are coached by Travis Mays, currently in his fourth season at the helm for the Mustangs.
