Morton earns spot on AAC Weekly Honor Roll

Sophomore right fielder posted a .412 batting average last weekend in Mobile
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sophomore outfielder Gracie Morton earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is the first time in her young career she has been recognized by the AAC.

Morton had a solid showing at the plate last weekend at the Mardi Gras Classic hosted by South Alabama, posting a .412 batting average with three multi-hit games and three doubles. She led the team with seven RBI and was only struck out one time in 18 at bats.

Against South Alabama on Friday night, Morton went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two doubles and three runs driven in.

Morton was also perfect in the field, posting a 1.000 percentage in four attempts in right field.

For the year, Morton is second on the team with a .373 batting average. She has already driven in a team-leading 13 runners and is second with 19 hits. Her six doubles and eight extra base hits also lead the team.

The Tigers are off during the midweek, but finally come home this weekend for the Blues City Classic. The home opener is scheduled to take place against Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex.
