Track And Field Wraps Up Day One At Music City Challenge

Austin III, Wesner lead the way with top-three performances on Friday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Jordan Wesner and Calvin Austin III posted top-three performances to pace the Tigers in first-day action at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge Friday. The meet continues Saturday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility, with the action starting at 10 a.m. (CT).

Wesner placed second in the men's high jump with a mark of 7-0.5 (2.15m), and Austin was third in the men's 200 meters (21.55).

DeeNia McMiller (weight throw) and Ladasia Walton (high jump) recorded the highest finishes on the women's side. Both placed fourth in their respective events.

- All three Tigers in the women's 5000 meters ran personal-best times. Solstice Saliba beat her previous-best by nearly 37 seconds, and Sonsoles Martin Rodriguez improved her personal-best by 35 seconds. Gabrielle Byndas improved her personal-best by two seconds.
- Two Tigers in the women's weight throw had personal-best performances. Vigdis Jonsdottir surpassed her previous-best by eight inches, and Amber Simpson did so by nearly seven inches.
- Parker Evans threw a personal-best in the men's weight throw. He surpassed his previous-best by nearly two inches.
- Others setting personal-bests were: Hunter Miniard in the men's 200 meters; Lea Diedicke in the women's 200 meters; and Savanna Owens in the women's 200 meters.
