MEMPHIS — The Memphis women's basketball season opener vs. Southern Illinois on Sunday has been postponed with a mutual date to be determined as the SIU team begins a seven-day pause.
SIU head women's basketball coach Cindy Stein announced on Friday that the team had one player test positive for COVID-19, and due to contract tracing and subsequent quarantines, will not have the minimum eight players required for Sunday's game at Memphis.
The Salukis, whose next three games are canceled, will begin a seven-day pause until re-testing can take place, and will also cancel their appearance at next weekend's Compass Challenge hosted by Eastern Illinois.
