Two-game road swing begins at UCF for women's hoops

The Tigers take on the Knights at 1 p.m. CT Saturday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team carries its momentum from a comeback victory against SMU into the weekend as the Tigers head to UCF for a 1 p.m. CT matchup Saturday afternoon. The game at Addition Financial Arena will be broadcast on the American Digital Network.

Memphis ended the contest against SMU on a 17-4 run, including eight of the final nine points from sophomore Jamirah Shutes, to earn conference victory No. 1 on Tuesday evening. Shutes finished with a team-high 14 points, leading the Tigers for the ninth time this season and 24th time in her career.
Also, against SMU, freshman guard Madison Griggs continued her sharp shooting from beyond the arc. Griggs made three treys for the 10th time this season and has a conference-leading 51 this season. Her 51 three-pointers rank 20th nationally and are second among freshmen (Dyaisha Fair, Buffalo; 53). Griggs sits 19 three-pointers shy of matching the school record of single-season threes set by Alex Winchell during the 2009-10 season.
Junior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu has made her mark in conference play, leading the Tigers in scoring and rebounding. This season, Fankam Mendjiadeu has posted a team-leading seven double-doubles, including a 21-point, 10-rebound performance against No. 4 UConn on Jan. 14.
Saturday's game is the first of two in-a-row on the road. It marks the 30th all-time meeting against UCF and 14th in Orlando. Memphis carries a 16-13 all-time advantage.
The Knights have won the previous three matchups against the Tigers, but not before Memphis had won eight in-a-row. The Tigers are seeking their first road win in Orlando since Jan. 7, 2017.

Kay Kay Wright continues to lead the Knights during her stellar UCF career. This season, she is averaging a team-high 15.6 points while recording 64 assists and 36 steals, also team highs.
The Knights shoot 40.5 percent from the floor and excel at the free throw line, hitting 75.5 percent of their freebies. The Knights lead the league in free throw percentage.
Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is the head coach of the Knights and is currently in her fourth season at the helm.
