Women's soccer kicks off 25th season against Little Rock

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Kicking off its 25th season of soccer, the No. 20/24 Memphis Tigers welcome the Little Rock Trojans to Park Ave. Campus on Thursday night.

Five Things To Know About Memphis
- Memphis is celebrating its 25th season of women's soccer this season. The program started in 1995 and has since collected a 263-170-32 all-time record. Additionally, head coach Brooks Monaghan enters his 20th season at the helm of the program with a 229-130-28.
- With the addition of stadium lighting this summer, Memphis will play all its home matches back on campus for the first time for a full season since 2000. Previously, the Tigers primarily played home contests at Mike Rose Soccer Complex from 2001-2018.
- Memphis opens the regular season ranked No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the TopDrawerSoccer Poll. This year marks the second time in program history the Tigers have begun a season ranked (2012).
- The Tigers had three student-athletes listed to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Team. Senior Serena Dolan and juniors Clarissa Larisey and Elizabeth Moberg were tabbed to the preseason team earlier this month, with Moberg also adding the league's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
- Senior Serena Dolan and junior Clarissa Larisey were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier this month. The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual honor in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding men's and women's soccer players of the year.
A Look at Little Rock
Like Memphis, the Little Rock Trojans are fresh off a 2018 conference title after winning the Sun Belt tournament. The Trojans turned in a program-record 13 victories a season ago under first-year head coach Mark Foster.
Little Rock welcomes 14 newcomers to its 2019 roster. The Trojans return an offensive threat in senior Doro Greulich. The First Team All-Sun Belt selection tallied four goals and led the team with seven assists in 2018. In goal, sophomore Sara Johannsdottir returns between the posts after having started all 22 matches for Little Rock a season ago.
