MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the third consecutive season, Memphis women's tennis has a representative on the American Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.
Laura Bente became the school's third different player tabbed to The American's postseason awards list as the sophomore was named to the 12-player all-league team, the conference announced Thursday.
Bente posted a 22-10 singles record in 2018-19, including a 15-5 mark in dual-match play and 3-1 record in league matches. In doubles, Bente held a 15-16 mark and an 11-8 ledger in the spring season.
"Laura being recognized by the conference is a direct result of the work and effort she has put in this year toward becoming a better tennis player," Head Coach Hayden Perez said. "Laura comes to practice prepared and focused each day and is an example for her teammates. Coach Haymond and I are looking forward to her continued growth and future."
Primarily playing the No. 2 position throughout the spring, the Hanover, Germany native was 13-2 when playing at the second spot in the lineup and capped the spring season on a five-match win streak.
Bente joins Anki Wind (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018) and Marta Morga (2014) as Memphis' all-conference honorees in The American.
