7-year-old Mabry Landstreet joins the Tiger Family
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team and head coach Natalie Poole teamed with Team IMPACT to grant an NLI Wednesday afternoon to 7-year-old Mabry Landstreet, a St. Jude patient and Memphis native. Landstreet was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2014 and has been free of treatments for the last two-and-a-half years.
Â
Through Team IMPACT's program at the University of Memphis, Landstreet will become an official member of the softball team. As a team member, Landstreet will attend Tigers practices, games, team dinners, events, and more. Before Friday's game against UCF, Landstreet will throw out an honorary first pitch.
Â
The Landstreets were introduced to Team IMPACT at an oncology camp, Camp Sunshine, in Maine. Through series of interviews, the Landstreets were connected with the Memphis softball team.
Â
Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,700 children with more than 500 colleges and universities in 49 states, reaching over 50,000 participating student-athletes.
