MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Using a five-run fourth inning, the Memphis baseball team used eight hits and 11 walks to defeat Cincinnati by way of an 11-4 margin on Senior Day Saturday night at FedExPark.

The Tigers improve to 26-23 on the year, with a 9-10 conference record.

Seven of the nine hitters recorded a hit, including a multi-hit effort from Alec Trela. Hunter Goodman and Cale Hennemann each recorded a pair of RBI.

Alex Hicks picked up the win on the mound after posting six innings of work. The senior struck out seven batters en route to his fourth win of the season. Alex Smith was awarded a save following three clean innings on the mound to seal the deal, striking out four while allowing just one hit.

Cincinnati scored the day's first run in the top of the first inning, but a double play from the Tigers' defense prevented further damage.

Hennemann drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to put Memphis on the board, evening the score at one. Memphis grabbed its first lead of the day in the third inning when a groundout from Kyle Ouellette plated Colton Neel.

After Cincinnati regained an advantage at 3-2, Memphis answered right back with five runs in the home half. A pair of bases-loaded walks put Memphis back in front at 4-3, while a wild pitch pushed the lead to 5-3. With a pair of runners in scoring position later in the frame, Goodman sent a 2-RBI double down the left field line to build a 7-3 cushion.

The Tigers continued to push the lead in the fifth, as Trela scored on a triple off the bat of Hennemann. After Cincinnati scored one in the top of the sixth, Memphis added a pair to close out the game, posting the 11-4 final score.

Sunday's rubber game is set for 12 p.m.
