STORRS, Conn. – Memphis softball dropped a tough game two in its series with UConn, falling 6-5 Saturday afternoon. The Tigers and Huskies will play one more this weekend on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.

Memphis falls to 20-19 on the season, with a 2-6 conference record.

The Tigers applied pressure early in the game, putting a runner in scoring position in the second inning. Gracie Morton showed patience at the plate, earning a walk after falling behind in the count. A single by Alyssa Dean moved her over to second, where she was able to score on an RBI single from Sara Ann Davidson.

Carrying that momentum, Memphis pressed forward in the third. Delaney Smith led the inning off with a walk, and was pushed to third on a hit by Baylee Smith. Ryleigh Aungst laid down a bunt to score Delaney Smith. Regan Hadley stepped up to the plate and knocked home another run, scoring Baylee Smith. The Tigers plated two more runs on at bats from Alyssa Dean and Davidson, opening up a 5-0 lead after three innings.

The Huskies battled back, scoring a pair of runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-5 lead.

Memphis had opportunities late, putting runners in scoring position in the sixth inning but found themselves unable to take advantage.

Karli Perque started in the circle for the Tigers, striking out six and only walking one. After coming in relief, Mariah Nichols was dealt the loss after throwing one inning of work.

Notables

Ashley Threatt added another game to her on-base streak, extending it to a team-high 16 games.
Sara Ann Davidson had her third multi-RBI game of the season, driving in two on Saturday.
Ryleigh Aungst registered a pair of hits, marking her fifth multi-hit game of the year.
Regan Hadley drove in her team-leading 32^nd RBI, scoring Baylee Smith in the third.
