Apr 27, 2019 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
Tigers honor 14 seniors near the start of Saturday's action.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – It was Senior Day at the Memphis Invitational Saturday, and University of Memphis senior Saida Burns-Moore had a spectacular final home appearance to cap the Tigers' action. The two-day meet was held at the Billy J. Murphy Soccer/Track and Field Complex on the University's Park Avenue campus.
Â
In her final home meet wearing the Blue and Gray, Burns-Moore reset her school record in the women's high jump with a mark of 5-11.25 (1.81m). The jump Saturday improved on her previous record of 5-10.75 (1.80m), which she set at last year's Memphis Invitational.
Â
Burns-Moore won the high jump, which was the fifth career title in the event. She also took first in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 44-1.25 (13.44m). The wind-aided jump out-distanced her previous-best by nearly two feet (42-1.5; 12.84m).
Â
It was the third time in her career that Burns-Moore was a double-winner in the jumps at the same meet.
Â
With her school record Saturday, it gives the Tigers six for the 2019 season. Memphis has set school records this season in the men's 4x100-meter relay and the women's hammer, high jump, javelin, long jump and 3000-meter steeplechase.
