Tigers Fall In Regular Season Finale To Temple

Jada Stinson scores a career-high 17 points
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team suffered an 84-53 setback to Temple on Monday evening at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Memphis recognized its three seniors, Jasmine James, Ashia Jones and Brianna Porter during pregame of Wednesday's contest.
The Tigers ended the regular season with a 10-19 overall record and 5-11 mark in American Athletic Conference play.
Jada Stinson propelled the Memphis offense against the Owls, hitting a career-high five three-pointers and finishing with a career-high 17 points.
Temple took an early 12-6 lead at the first media timeout. The Owls continued to build an 11-point lead against Memphis until the 7:23 mark in the second quarter when Jada Stinson's second three-pointer of the contest ignited the Memphis offense.
The Tigers rattled off a 14-6 run down to the 3:16 mark in the second which included three three-pointers from Stinson and one from Jamirah Shutes.
In the closing seconds of the first half, Shutes avoided several Temple defenders and found Alana Davis under the basket to cut the Temple lead down to two, 36-34. The Tigers committed just six turnovers in the first half and finished the second quarter hitting five of their six attempted three-pointers. For her part, Stinson shot four-of-four from beyond the arc in the quarter.
Temple responded out of the break with a 28-point third quarter, building a 17-point lead over Memphis. The Memphis offense struggled to get going in the second half and was held to 19 points.
Three players scored in double-digits for the Tigers, led by Stinson's 17. On her senior night, Jasmine James contributed 10 points.
