Lee, Lenton, Southern, Viveiros all win crowns.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The University of Memphis track and field team posted four first-place finishes in Saturday action at Southeast Missouri's Joey Haines Invitational.

The Tigers only competed in 14 events (4 men/10 women) and also had limited participation in those events as a result of the inclement weather Saturday. In previewing the Joey Haines Invitational, head coach Kevin Robinson said that the weather would play a factor in which events the Tigers would enter and who would compete.

Sir Newton Lee (men's 400m), Samantha Lenton (women's discus), Aisha Southern (women's 100m) and Matthew Viveiros (men's 800m) all won titles for the Tigers.

Tigers Tidbits

Memphis had 10 top-three performances Saturday.
Samantha Lenton's first-place finish in the women's discus was her second of the outdoor season and her career.
Aisha Southern's 100 meters crown was the first of her outdoor career.
Sir Newton Lee won the second 400 meters title of his outdoor career.
Matthew Viveiros recorded his second career first-place finish in the men's outdoor 800 meters.
Four Tigers ran for the first time in their respective events, and they were Dionna Dennis in the women's 110-meter hurdles, Brendan Homeyer in the men's 1500 meters, and Erin Gilbert and Madi Ray in the women's 800 meters.
