Two Tigers competing in UNA Spring Classic

Giles, Chevalier among the top 35 after two rounds at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club

KILLEN, Ala. – The University of Memphis sent two of its golfers to participate in the University of North Alabama Spring Classic and, after the opening 18 holes, the UofM's Nick Giles found himself among the leaders.

Giles opened with a 3-under 69 at the Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club, but his afternoon round knocked him from his perch. He followed with a 77 and is tied for 21^st heading into the final round Tuesday. Guillaume Chevalier also competed as an individual for the Tigers and is tied for 32^nd at 4-over 148. He shot rounds of 73 and 75.

Memphis is not competing as a team in the event. Only Giles and Chevalier are participating.

Through 36 holes, UNA, the host, leads at 9-under, followed by Jacksonville State at 2-under. UNA's Aaron Jackson leads the field after shooting 69-67 for 136, two strokes better than Charles Spencer White of DePaul.

The third and final round will be held Tuesday.
