Burns-Moore Sets Triple Jump Record Saturday

Tigers have set 10 school record at Vanderbilt meets the last three years.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field team loves to compete in Vanderbilt-hosted meets. And it shows in all the school records the Tigers have set there in recent seasons.

Memphis set another school record in Saturday action at the Music City Challenge. Saida Burns-Moore provided this school mark in the women's triple jump, leaping 42-8.5 (13.01m) for a third-place finish in the event. Burns-Moore's effort Saturday broke the previous record set in 2003 by Lisa-Marie Hyman (42-7; 12.98m).

Burns-Moore's triple jump school record comes the day after Julian Sanchez-Pinto re-set his school record in the men's 5,000 meters Friday.

The Tigers travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the annual Redhawks Open Feb. 15. The meet is the final tune-up for the American Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 22-23.

- With Julian Sanchez-Pinto's and Saida Burns-Moore's marks this weekend, Memphis now has set 10 school records in Vanderbilt-hosted indoor meets the last three seasons (2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19).
- The Tigers had three top-three performances Saturday, highlighted by freshman Zachary Wyatt's title in the men's mile.
- All three men's mile performers – Zachary Wyatt, Tate Wyatt and Christian Corsello – had personal-best times in the event Saturday.
- For the second time this season, Paris Perkins ran her personal-best in the women's 400 meters at Vanderbilt. Her 55.36 time Saturday improved on her 55.77 in the Vanderbilt Invitational Jan. 19.
- Adam Neelly threw a personal-best in the men's shot put (59-1.5; 18.02m). He improved his personal-best by 16.5 inches (previous: 57-9; 17.60m).
