The Tigers will try to rebound after dropping a 57-48 decision to Wichita State last Wednesday. After three closely contested quarters, Memphis was unable to take control in the fourth. Freshman Jamirah Shutes and sophomore Alana Davis scored 10 points apiece in the loss.
Shutes, who hit double-digit points for the 14th time this season against Wichita State, leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game. She ranks ninth in The American and first among freshmen in the conference. Davis is second on the squad and 16th in the AAC, contributing 11.9 points per game. Davis has the third-highest field goal percentage in the conference, scoring at a 53.2 percent clip.
Davis also leads the team in rebounds with 7.8 boards per game, a total that ranks fourth in the AAC. She has also consistently ranked at the top of the list of offensive rebounders, and is currently second in the AAC, grabbing 3.8 offensive rebounds per contest.
Senior forward Brianna Porter registered her team-leading 21st block of the season on Wednesday. Sitting at ninth in The American in blocks, Porter needs just three more rejections to enter Memphis' top-10 list for blocks in a season by a senior.
Memphis looks to complete the season sweep against ECU after winning the last matchup at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on January 19. The 58-46 victory was a defensive masterpiece, as the Pirates shot 24 percent from the floor and 10 percent from beyond the arc. Junior Taylor Barnes led the Tigers with 18 points and three steals.
