Stinson scores season-high 12 points on four three-pointers
HARTFORD, Conn. – Led by 12-point scoring efforts from Jada Stinson and Jasmine James, the University of Memphis women's basketball team suffered a 102-45 setback to No. 3/4 UConn Wednesday evening. The Tigers fall to 10-16 on the year and 5-8 in American Athletic Conference play.

Stinson propelled the Memphis offense in the first quarter with a team-leading three made three-pointers. Stinson's third trey of the quarter cut the UConn lead down to six, 19-13, with 4:37 remaining in the quarter.

The Tigers finished with 19 first quarter points, the third-highest first quarter of the season for Memphis.

UConn senior Katie Lou Samuelson was virtually unstoppable in the first half, draining seven of eight from distance. The Huskies opened the first quarter shooting 63.6 percent as a team. She finished the game with a floor-high 32 points.

Additional Tigers joined in on the scoring in the second quarter, as Ashia Jones scored four points and Alana Davis added two. The Huskies started to distance themselves, however, in the second quarter from Memphis with four more made three-pointers and a 53 percent showing from the field.

Three Tigers reached the double-digit mark in the third quarter, including Stinson who drained her team-leading fourth triple of the game. Jasmine James, who scored six points in the first half, contributed six in the third quarter alone for Memphis.

Memphis kept UConn off the three-point line in the third quarter, but strong scoring efforts inside allowed for the Huskies to build on their lead.

The Tigers committed a season-low 14 turnovers while forcing 11 UConn miscues.
