Baylee Smith Named AAC Player of the Week

Memphis has garnered the first two POW this season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Memphis sophomore Baylee Smith has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time in her career after leading the Tigers offensively this past weekend.

The Henderson, Tennessee native put together a 8-for-10 effort at the plate with five extra base hits and six runs driven in through four games. She finished with two doubles, two triples, and a home run. Against FIU, Smith was a home run away from hitting for the cycle.

She also was perfect on the base paths, swiping three bases. She finished with a .800 batting average, .750 on base percentage and was perfect in the field in five chances at left field.

Memphis looks ahead to the weekend, where the team will play four games in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The LSU Tournament will feature games against CSUN, LSU, Stanford and Michigan. For more information on the University of Memphis softball team, follow the Tigers on social media at @MemphisSoftball.
