Alex Hicks named to AAC Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a strong outing to start his 2019 campaign, senior right-handed pitcher Alex Hicks was named to The American's weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.

The Collierville, Tenn., native picked up the win in Game 2 of a double-header against Indiana on Saturday, helping secure a 6-3 Tiger victory.

Hicks threw five shutout innings, gave up just three hits and fanned eight Hoosier batters. His eight strikeouts were just one shy of his career-best mark. After allowing a pair of hits in the top of the first inning, Hicks settled in to retire 14 of the next 15 hitters.

Monday's recognition is the first weekly honor for the senior.

Hicks and the Tigers return to the diamond Wednesday for a midweek matchup against Murray State. First pitch from FedExPark is set for 3 p.m.
